Green Living

As this New Year begins, we at New York House hope your holidays have been healthy and happy.

Even at this early timein 2007, there are more exciting changes going on. First, many of you will notice that there is now a New York City edition of the magazine, as well as the regular Upstate and Westchester/Putnam/Rockland editions. Our expanded distribution began last September, along with our signature green-focused editorial coverage, throughout the entire New York metropolitan area. The trend toward green living is going strong in the Hudson Valley, with an ever-increasing number of people looking for—and finding—new, sustainable ways to create healthier, smarter houses and homes. It's also happening in the city, though on a different scale, with a growing number of new and existing residential buildings incorporating green design principles. Our mission is to showcase sustainability and highlight it wherever it's occurring. And helping to spread the message about green living to the eight million hearty souls who live in New York City is about as ambitious as we can get.

"Our mission is to showcase sustainability and highlight it wherever it's occurring."

I'm also pleased to announce another new addition, in the name of Susan Piperato as New York House's new managing editor. Many of you have already read some of Susan's expertly written articles within these pages as well as in other publications. She's an incredible asset to the team and will help guide us through our future growth.

Finally, ScheinMedia and New York House magazine will soon announce its plans for a green and sustainable real estate conference later this spring. It will be something that you will no doubt want to attend.
